ABOUT US

Our story

SHIP was born from a deep conviction that no person should be bought, sold, exploited, or trapped in systems of abuse. What began as a burden to see justice and protection for vulnerable Pacific peoples has grown into a mission of faith, compassion, and action.

For founder Julz, SHIP began when God placed a burden on her heart for those who are vulnerable and exploited across the Pacific. That burden became a call to act — to raise awareness, build partnerships, and help create pathways toward safety, dignity, and freedom.

We believe that awareness can open eyes, education can prevent harm, and strong partnerships can help create safer futures for Pacific communities.

Our why

Human trafficking is not only a global issue — it affects families, communities, and nations. It thrives where people are vulnerable, where awareness is low, where systems are stretched, and where exploitation can remain hidden.

Our mission is to protect the vulnerable, restore dignity to survivors, and prevent the exploitation of Pacific peoples through education, advocacy, collaboration, and practical support.

We are committed to raising awareness, strengthening partnerships, identifying gaps in support, and working alongside others to confront the conditions that allow trafficking to continue. Rooted in faith and compassion, we believe Pacific communities can be empowered, informed, and free.

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.

Luke 4:18

Our focus

SHIP focuses on the Pacific region, including Pacific Island nations, Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, and Pacific communities connected across these places through family, culture, faith, migration, labour, and community networks.

We have chosen this focus because human trafficking and exploitation do not stop at borders. Pacific peoples may be affected through labour exploitation, migration pathways, sexual exploitation, family and economic vulnerability, and limited awareness of trafficking risks.

SHIP exists to raise awareness, strengthen partnerships, and support prevention in ways that are culturally respectful, faith-informed, relational, and community-led.
